Yesterday we finished reading Emil and the Detectives. Next week when the kids come back with their reflections, we can gauge on their reading comprehension skills. Finding the main idea of a piece of writing is the most essential reading comprehension skill for kids to develop. Whether it is a paragraph, essay or an entire book here are some ways to develop reading comprehension before we start reading, while we read and after the reading.
