What are limericks?
Matilda’s very first day at school was an interesting one, mostly for Miss Honey. Miss Honey on the first day reads limericks to the class and Matilda writes a limerick for Miss Honey in an endearing move. So, what are limericks?
· Limericks are short poems.
· They are made of 5 lines and can be nonsensical.
· The first, second- and fifth-lines rhyme and have same number of syllables (often 8 or 9)
· The third- and fourth-lines rhyme and also have same number of syllables (often 5 or 6)
