Melbourne ma Hamro Nepal: Festival Chronicles is a one-of-a-kind, 12-episode YouTube documentary series—the first of its kind— to celebrate and document the vibrant ways in which Nepali families in Melbourne preserve and honor their cultural heritage through various festivals.

Each episode will focus on a different festival, showcasing vibrant community stories, traditional recipes, and joyful gatherings where we discuss legacy and identity.

This is a collaboration between Solangture (Society, Language, Culture)– Melbourne’s premier Nepali event organiser with 15 years of community engagement and Ekadeshma, a Melbourne-based initiative established to support young people to stay connected with their Nepali heritage through storytelling.

Our main objectives are:

  1. Cultural Preservation: We aim to document Nepali culture and share it with a broader audience, and aim to pass down Nepali cultural practices to the younger generations.

  2. Community Engagement: The series will foster the sense of community among Nepali diaspora in Melbourne and beyond, providing a platform to share experiences and traditions.

  3. Educational Content for young people: Each episode will serve as an educational resource, teaching the young audience about the significance and history behind each festival and its contemporary celebrations.
