Meet the Authors and Illustrators

  • Indra Chaudhary - Author

    Indra Chaudhary has an MPhil in Nepali Language and Literature from Tribhuvan University. Chowdhury, who is known as a journalist and artist, is currently also active in writing children's literature. He has already published ढोला फर्कियो त ? from The Asia Foundation and नयाँ वनपाले from Room to Read, कपासको घोडा is his third children's book.

  • Shristi Vaidya - Author

    Shristi is a children's book author from Nepal. Her love for children’s literature began when she started reading books to her toddler. With a creative spirit, she quickly became captivated by the world of storytelling for kids. Shristi writes in both English and Nepali, drawing inspiration from her Nepali-Newari heritage, folktales, her experiences as an immigrant, themes of inclusion, and the beauty of nature.

  • Prakash Ranjit - Illustrator

    Prakash Ranjit is a visual artist and illustrator who loves to share stories. Prakash lives and works in Kathmandu and recently completed my Master's in Fine Arts program. Prakash enjoys observing everyday life and the unique stories each tells in quite an unusual way. Prakash believes in the power of art to convey ideas, messages, and stories to the masses in a multitude of layers as one delves deeper into the work. In his spare time, he loves writing stories in addition to illustrating and reading books and comics.

  • Pooja Shrestha - Author

    Using dreams as a source of creative inspiration, Pooja Shrestha delights in crafting imaginative narratives that nurture curiosity of young readers. During her upbringing, she was greatly captivated by the surreal realm of fantasy stories. Professionally, an ethnomusicologist, she has a deep fondness for animals and a passion for writing.

  • Ubahang Nembang - Author & Illustrator

    Ubahang (Uba) is an illustrator and graphic designer who loves to write/illustrate picture books. He earned a BFA from Kathmandu University and a MA in illustration from Falmouth University in Cornwall. His stories are often told through the eyes of the animal protagonists and at their core reflect the interconnected relationship between the environment and people.
